South Dakota Parent Connection is offering these sessions to provide information & resources to parents and young adults ages 14 – 21 with disabilities from the Rapid City area.
The Students will:
- Gain skills for using their voice
- Understand the importance of making connections and building relationships
- Build goals for the future based on their strengths and weaknesses
- Learn how your IEP supports your future
- Get tips for finding and working with agencies that can give support
The Parents/Family will:
- Learn how their role in their child’s life is changing
- Get tips for teaching their young adult how to speak up
- Gain tools and strategies for making positive plans for the future
- Learn how to support their young adult to navigate successfully through agencies and disability support systems
There are Two Sessions Planned!
Friday, October 18th is for the parent/guardian(s) AND the student with pizza provided before the session begins.
5:30 – 8:00 pm
Saturday, October 19th is required for the parent/guardian(s) ONLY. Lunch on your own.
8:30 – 3:00 pm
Both sessions will be held at the South Dakota Parent Connection office at 2310 North Maple Avenue, Rapid City.
