Transition To Success – Gettysburg Area

South Dakota Parent Connection is offering these sessions to provide information & resources to parents and young adults ages 14 – 21 with disabilities from Gettysburg and surrounding area.

The Students will:

  • Gain skills for using their voice
  • Understand the importance of making connections and building relationships
  • Build goals for the future based on their strengths and weaknesses
  • Learn how your IEP supports your future
  • Get tips for finding and working with agencies that can give support

 

The Parents/Family will:

  • Learn how their role in their child’s life is changing
  • Get tips for teaching their young adult how to speak up
  • Gain tools and strategies for making positive plans for the future
  • Learn how to support their young adult to navigate successfully through agencies and disability support systems

 

There are two sessions planned for Wednesday, October 23rd!

12:00 – 2:30 pm is for the students ONLY

5:00 – 7:30 pm is for the parents/guardians ONLY

Both sessions will be held at the Gettysburg High School located at 100 E. King Avenue, Gettysburg, Room 112. Refreshments provided.
