Families Together: Virtual Parent Support Group

Parenting a child with a disability can bring many joys—but it can also bring questions, worries, and days that feel overwhelming. Sometimes parents tell us the hardest part is feeling like they are facing these challenges alone.

Families Together is a free virtual parent support group offered by South Dakota Parent Connection. This group brings parents and guardians from across South Dakota together to connect, learn, and support one another.

Each meeting begins with a short learning topic about special education, disability supports, or helpful resources for families. During the second half of the meeting, parents are invited to ask questions, share experiences, and talk with others who understand the journey of raising a child with a disability.

You do not need to have everything figured out. You can share, listen, or simply be present. This is a welcoming space where families can learn from one another and feel supported.

When We Meet

Families Together meets virtually for 1 hour on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM Central Time / 6:00 PM Mountain Time. You can join from the comfort of your home using Zoom.

Who Should Attend

This group is for parents and guardians of children, youth, and young adults with disabilities who live in South Dakota.

Learning Topic Recordings

To respect the privacy of families, only the learning portion of the meeting will be recorded. This recording may be shared later so other parents can learn from the information. The second half of the meeting will not be recorded. This time is for personal conversation, questions, and parent support, and we want families to feel comfortable sharing.
