South Dakota Parent Connection (SDPC) is excited to announce we have received federal funding to serve as South Dakotas Parent Training and Information Center for another 5 Years! SDPC has been the Parent Training and Information Center for South Dakota since 1985. We are excited to continue working with parents of children, youth, and young adults with disabilities. SDPC offers information, consultation, and training on many topics related to securing supports and services in schools and communities throughout the state. We are also excited to announce that Lisa Sanderson, SDPC Grants Coordinator and South Dakota Act Early Ambassador has secured additional funding for the ACT Early program.
South Dakota Parent Connection has received one of 43 national grants to integrate and evaluate “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” resources to bolster the 4 steps of early identification of developmental delays and disabilities in children birth to 5 and support recovery and resilience of families with young children and the early childhood systems serving them during COVID-19 response and mitigation efforts. The project will be led by Lisa Sanderson, Grants Coordinator and CDCs Act Early Ambassador to South Dakota, working with partners across South Dakota to support parent-engaged developmental monitoring, developmental and autism screening, referral to appropriate services and supports, and receipt of early intervention services. Thanks to our early partners for their support in applying for this opportunity: SD Dept of Education/Birth to Three Connections, SD Dept of Health, SD Dept of Social Services Division of Child Care Services, USD Center for Disabilities, SD Statewide Family Engagement Center/Black Hills Special Services Cooperative, SD Chapter of Academy of Pediatrics, and SD Academy of Family Physicians.
