DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a great start to the new school year! \nThe Back-to-School Brigade and Resource Fair at Ellsworth Air Force Base is designed to help military families prepare for the 2026–2027 school year. Eligible military-connected students in kindergarten through 12th grade can receive a backpack filled with school supplies through Operation Homefront’s Back-to-School Brigade program. Families can also attend the Back-to-School Round Up Resource Fair to learn about services and supports available in the community. \nBe sure to stop by the South Dakota Parent Connection booth while you are there. Our staff will be available to answer questions\, share information and resources\, and connect families to free supports for children and youth with disabilities and special health care needs. DESCRIPTION:South Dakota Parent Connection is excited to participate in the 2026 Transition Summer Institute\, a statewide learning opportunity for educators\, school staff\, transition professionals\, and agency partners who support youth with disabilities as they prepare for life after high school. \nThe Transition Summer Institute provides practical information\, strategies\, and resources to help professionals improve transition planning and support successful outcomes in education\, employment\, and independent living. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experts\, connect with colleagues from across the state\, and explore current topics related to transition services. \nSouth Dakota Parent Connection staff will be presenting a breakout session focused on getting ahead of behavior concerns in the classroom. This session will explore proactive strategies that help educators understand the reasons behind challenging behaviors\, build positive relationships with students\, create supportive learning environments\, and address concerns before they become larger issues.
