The Supporting Striving Readers at Home workshop from Learning Ally helps parents and caregivers better understand reading difficulties and learn practical strategies to support their child’s success. \nIn this one-hour virtual session\, families will learn how the brain learns to read\, how to recognize characteristics of reading challenges such as dyslexia\, and ways to strengthen reading skills outside of school. Join us for this resource fair\, a free event for families from Sioux Falls and surrounding communities who have youth ages 15–21 with disabilities. \nThis event will provide information\, resources\, and connections to help families better understand the transition-to-adulthood process. Families will have the opportunity to learn from experts\, ask questions\, and visit with local organizations that support youth and adults with disabilities. \nTopics will include guardianship\, Vocational Rehabilitation services\, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits\, transition services for youth ages 15–21\, adult services available after age 21\, and ways to plan for the future. DESCRIPTION:South Dakota Parent Connection is happy to offer this virtual statewide support group for parents and guardians of children\, youth\, and young adults with disabilities.  \nThis group is a safe and welcoming place to learn\, share\, and connect with other families who understand your journey. \n  \nJoin this virtual resource from the comfort of your home.
